Boiler repairs and fault diagnosis
Help with boiler breakdowns, heating and hot-water faults, pressure problems, controls and intermittent boiler issues across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. We’ll investigate the symptoms, explain what we find and discuss the practical repair options.
Boiler problems we can investigate
A boiler fault does not always mean the boiler itself has failed. Controls, system pressure, pumps, valves and other heating components can produce similar symptoms, so diagnosis comes before replacement.
No heating
Boiler running issues, control faults or heating-system problems leaving radiators cold.
No hot water
Fault finding where hot water is unavailable, intermittent or not reaching the expected temperature.
Pressure problems
Low or dropping system pressure, frequent topping up or pressure-related boiler warnings.
Lockouts and error codes
Investigation of recurring lockouts or boiler fault codes rather than repeated resets without diagnosis.
Leaks and unusual noises
Water around the boiler or heating system, banging, kettling or other abnormal operating noises.
Controls and thermostats
Problems involving thermostats, programmers and heating controls that can mimic a boiler fault.
Work out what has failed before replacing parts
Boiler faults can come from the appliance, the controls or the wider heating system. A sensible repair starts by checking the symptoms and relevant components rather than changing parts at random.
Once the likely cause is identified, we’ll explain the repair and whether there are any reasons to consider a larger system issue or replacement instead.
When to stop using the boiler and call
If the boiler is leaking heavily, repeatedly locking out or showing signs that concern you, stop repeatedly resetting it and get the fault checked. If you smell gas, do not use the boiler or any gas appliance and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
Smell of gas
Call 0800 111 999. Do not rely on the website enquiry form for a suspected gas escape.
Water leaking from the boiler
Turn off the appliance if safe to do so and call if the leak is active or worsening.
Repeated lockouts
A reset may restore operation temporarily, but repeated lockouts need diagnosis.
No heating in cold weather
Call if loss of heating is urgent, particularly where the property or occupants are vulnerable.

Boiler repair FAQs
My boiler has an error code. Should I reset it?
A single reset in line with the manufacturer’s user instructions may clear a temporary fault. If the code returns or you are unsure, stop repeatedly resetting the boiler and arrange fault finding.
Why does my boiler pressure keep dropping?
Pressure loss can have several causes, including a leak or a system component fault. Repeatedly topping it up without finding the cause is not a long-term repair.
Can a thermostat fault make it look like the boiler is broken?
Yes. Controls and thermostats can prevent a working boiler from receiving the correct demand, which is why the wider heating system may need checking.
When is replacement better than repair?
That depends on the fault, parts availability, condition and age of the appliance. We’ll explain the repair position so you can make an informed decision rather than automatically recommending replacement.
Need plumbing, heating, gas or renewables help?
