Tap repairs and replacement
Help with dripping, stiff, leaking or damaged taps, plus replacement taps for kitchens, bathrooms and utility areas across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. We’ll assess whether a repair is sensible or whether replacement is the better option.
Tap faults we can help with
A dripping tap is often simple, but leaks can also come from tap tails, cartridges, valves or the connection below the fitting. We check the cause before recommending parts or replacement.
Dripping taps
Persistent dripping from the spout, including washer, valve or cartridge-related faults.
Stiff or seized taps
Handles that are difficult to turn or no longer operate smoothly.
Leaking around the base
Water escaping around the tap body, seals or mounting point.
Leaks below the tap
Faults around flexi tails, copper tails, isolation valves and connections beneath the fitting.
Loose taps
Taps that move on the basin, sink or worktop and need securing or further investigation.
Tap replacement
Removing an unsuitable or failed tap and fitting a suitable replacement where the plumbing allows.
Repair where it makes sense, replace when it doesn’t
Some tap faults are worth repairing; others are a sign that the fitting is worn out, obsolete or already damaged elsewhere. We’ll look at the age, condition and likely repair before suggesting replacement.
If you already have a replacement tap, we can check whether it is suitable for the existing plumbing before fitting it.
What can affect a tap replacement
Replacement is usually straightforward, but older plumbing, awkward access or failed isolation valves can add work. It is better to know that before the old tap is removed.
Access below the fitting
Tight cupboards, sinks and bath panels can affect how quickly the tap can be removed and installed.
Isolation valves
Old service valves can seize or begin leaking when disturbed and may need replacing.
Tap hole size and layout
The new fitting needs to suit the existing sink, basin, bath or worktop arrangement.
Water pressure
Some taps have minimum pressure requirements, particularly certain mixer or specialist fittings.

Tap repair FAQs
Can a dripping tap usually be repaired?
Often, yes. The cause may be a washer, cartridge, valve or seal, but availability of parts and the condition of the tap determine whether repair is worthwhile.
Can you fit a tap I have already bought?
Usually, provided it is suitable for the existing sink, basin, bath, pressure and connections. We can check compatibility before fitting.
Do isolation valves ever need replacing during tap work?
Yes. Older valves can seize or leak when operated. If that happens, we will explain the extra work before replacing them.
Can you replace kitchen and bathroom taps?
Yes. We work on common kitchen, basin and bath tap arrangements where the surrounding plumbing is suitable.
