The cylinder is part of the heat-pump design
A cylinder that worked acceptably with a high-temperature boiler is not automatically the right cylinder for a heat pump. Coil performance, storage capacity, controls and recovery strategy all affect the result, so the existing cylinder should be assessed rather than automatically retained.

Why are heat-pump cylinders often different?
They are commonly designed with heat-transfer characteristics suited to lower-temperature heat sources, which helps the heat pump transfer useful energy into the stored water.
