Why not just size a heat pump from my existing boiler?
Boilers are often oversized and their rated output does not tell you the actual heat loss of the building. A heat-loss calculation gives a much better design basis.
Does a heat-loss calculation tell me which radiators need changing?
It provides the room heat demand. That can then be compared with radiator output at the proposed flow and return temperatures.
Is this useful before a heat-pump quote?
Yes. It helps turn a rough proposal into a design based on the actual building rather than assumptions.
