How we approach it

Optimise for steady operation, not constant stop-start

Heat pumps generally work best when the heating curve, emitters and controls allow the property to receive the required heat at the lowest practical flow temperature. Aggressive setbacks and boiler-style on/off control can work against that aim.

What is weather compensation?

It adjusts the heating flow temperature in response to outdoor conditions so the system can provide enough heat without always using the same high target temperature.

Should I turn my heat pump off overnight?

Not always. Many properties suit a steadier strategy or modest setback rather than a deep overnight drop followed by a large morning recovery.

Can optimisation fix an undersized radiator?

No. Controls cannot create emitter output that is not there. If a room lacks enough radiator or floor output at the design temperature, the emitter issue still needs addressing.
