Heat pump fault finding and repairs

Heat Pump Repairs

Fault finding for heat-pump systems with heating, hot-water, controls, circulation and accessible system components checked before deciding what needs repair.

What we can help with

Heat pump fault finding and repairs

No heating

Diagnosis where the heat pump is running poorly, not starting or not delivering useful space heating.

Hot-water faults

Investigation where cylinder heating or hot-water recovery is not operating as expected.

Flow and circulation

Checks where poor flow, air, pressure or heating-side circulation may be contributing to the fault.

Controls and sensors

Assessment of control settings and accessible sensor/control symptoms where they affect operation.

Error conditions

Practical investigation around displayed faults rather than simply resetting the unit repeatedly.

System-side faults

Identification of issues in valves, pumps, filters, emitters or controls that can make a healthy heat pump appear faulty.

How we approach it

Check the whole system before blaming the outdoor unit

Heat-pump performance depends on the heating circuit, emitters, controls and hot-water system as well as the heat-pump unit itself. Fault finding should separate a refrigerant/manufacturer issue from a heating-side problem before parts are recommended.

Renewables standard: Work is planned and undertaken in line with MCS guidance and applicable standards where relevant. This does not state or imply MCS certification or accreditation.

Local coverage

Service across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire

LDM Group UK covers Farnborough, Frimley, Camberley, Aldershot, Fleet, Farnham and surrounding areas. Availability depends on the type and location of the job.

Questions

Heat Pump Repairs FAQs

Can you repair every heat-pump fault?

We can investigate the system and heating-side causes. Some faults may require manufacturer-specific parts or specialist refrigeration support; we will say so rather than overstate the scope.

Why is my heat pump running but the house still cold?

Possible causes include inadequate emitter output, low flow, control settings, weather compensation, circulation problems or an equipment fault.

Should I keep resetting a fault code?

Repeated resets can hide the symptom without solving the cause. If a fault returns, it should be investigated.
